Making Math Interesting

2009-08-03

Students often find math to be a boring subject.  Do what you can to make math come alive.  One way to do this is to identify interesting facts associated with numbers.

For example, point out that the number 4 is the first square number.  It is also the first composite number (a number that can be divided by other numbers and 1).  The moon has 4 phases.  A strand of DNA is a combination of 4 proteins.

You can find interesting information for many numbers.  All students learn better when their interest is piqued.
