It is important to incorporate the following progressions in any teaching situation.

  • Simple         --->    Complex
  • Familiar        --->    Unfamiliar
  • Concrete      --->    Abstract
  • Recognition   --->    Recall
  • Mastery        --->    Application
  • Rules            --->   Exceptions
Departing from any of these progressions will make it difficult for your students to learn.
