Parent Volunteers

With school budgets decreasing as a result of the economy, consider using parent volunteers as a resource.  Many parents like to be actively involved in the education of their children, and often have very special skills and abilities.  With the loss of jobs, increasing numbers of parents are looking for volunteer activities in their communities.  Take advantage of this opportunity.

Here are just some of the ways in which parent volunteers can help:

  • grading papers and tests
  • sharing information about their hobbies and interests
  • supervising on field trips
  • planning special events such as a play or a party
  • checking homework
